Rock 105.3 - The Northwoods Classic Rock Station

This week we lost yet another legend.  Marvin Lee Aday, aka Meat Loaf passed away last week at the age of 74.  An amazing career, comeback and musician.  In the beginning he was mocked as the “fat guy” on stage that looked a little silly they said.  He wasn’t taken seriously at first because of his weight and according to many of the critics in the day “was a parody of rock acts”.  Well, they were wrong and he wasn’t!  He was a true legend.  A hard working guy onstage that took his craft VERY seriously.  The joke is on all those critics as his debut album sold MILLIONS over the years.  We are losing so many of “our” legends and I use that term because there are no legends anymore.  What current artists can you name that you will be able to refer to in 10 years?  Right…NONE.  OK..fair is fair and there’s Taylor Swift but come on.  Legend?  Sorry.  RIP Marvin and I would be guilty if I didn’t mention we also lost Louie Anderson this last week as well.  Louie was a very good friend of Eddie Money and of course has been in the industry for 50 plus years.  RIP to all our wonderful legends that we have lost so far.  Admit it…they helped shape a lot of things in our lifetime.
