Saying Goodbye to Summer — and Hello to My Favorite Season
Well, here we are—Labor Day has come and gone, and in the Northwoods, that can only mean one thing: goodbye, summer.
It all goes by so fast, doesn’t it?
From everything I’m seeing (and feeling), it looks like we’re in for an early winter with above-average snowfall. Snowmobilers, cross-country skiers, and all the winter lovers out there will be thrilled. As for me? I’ll enjoy the snow when it comes—but I’m not quite ready to jump into winter just yet.
Because first, we get fall. 🍂
And fall is my absolute favorite.
There’s something magical about this time of year. The trees start showing off with their stunning reds, oranges, and golds. The air turns crisp. 65 degrees and sunny? That’s my version of perfect.
I have to admit, I do enjoy the summer months—campfires, lake days, long evenings—but I’m much more comfortable in the fall. My mood lifts. I sleep better. I’m happier overall. And while I keep the A/C running in the summer just to survive those hot nights, I much prefer having the windows open and letting that cool, fresh air drift in.
So, thank you, summer, for a beautiful season.
But now it’s time to say goodbye.
Bring on my love affair with fall.
